What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese alternative therapy for stress reduction,relaxation and also promotes healing and clarity .
Reiki treats the whole being - mind,body and spirit to achieve balance and restore optimum health. In the Western world medicine still very much relies on physical intervention, such as medication or surgery to promote healing . In the Eastern world Reiki remains a large part of the healing practise in hospitals.
Reiki means universal energy,which flows through all living things and is vital for wellbeing. Ki in Japan is the name given to this energy . This alternative therapy is carried out by the laying of hands - also known as healing hands. The aim is to bring balance to your energy fields within and around your body. It encourages physical healing ,removes energy blocks and helps to strengthen your energy.
The simplicity and non invasive quality of Reiki is the very thing that attracts so many people to it. This is a treatment that promotes healing from the inside to your mind,body and spirit. Reiki is often used as an ongoing tool to keep balance to your life,encourage inner health and a key part to a self care or recovery programme.
What should I expect during Reiki?
Everyone is different so experiences differ. In the initial session we always spend some time getting to know our clients and understand their triggers and any areas in the body that are of particular concern. Clients then lie, fully clothed,while the hands are used to channel the energy.The Reiki then flows through the body clearing and lifting each clients energy.
Some of the more common experiences during Reiki are a sense of clarity, peace and calmness. Reiki can be a deeply relaxing experience and each session can bring different responses. Some people can also feel a tingling sensation or even some visual imagery .
A Reiki session kick starts your body’s own self healing as the body shifts from fight or flight mode (sympathetic) into rest and digest mode (parasympathetic). This helps to release tension, stress and helping your emotional & mental well-being.
After Reiki you can experience a release in emotions, this can be directly after, during or over the coming days and this is perfectly normal. You could also notice improved sleep and increase in your overall mood and energy levels.
How many sessions will I need to notice benefits?
Regular sessions are recommended to keep balance of your emotional & mental well-being for longer lasting results. We would always recommend an initial block of 3 sessions for each client. If your conditions are more severe and have been long term issues these will take longer to balance than sudden anxiety or stress.
What can Reiki do for me ?

One of the wonderful things about this therapy is the ability to use this on yourself and your family . Mikao Usui main purpose of Reiki was to help others for the greater good.
