And boy did you create lots of fear
People started to react in panic,
while others started to become manic
Some started to act with greed,
as if they had a million mouths to feed
The media have to take responsibility,
Taking away any sense of tranquility
No positive talk or steps to cope,
Only making it more desirable to reach for that rope
A society that lost focus of what people truly need,
A society with leaders who do not know how to lead
Leading with fear and worry,
Making the future blurry
People were left in isolation,
Loneliness swept the nation
No thought was given to basic human needs,
No thought was given to his heart that bleeds
Why did no one address connection,
Instead they just focused on the infection
Human connection it’s vital for our health
Without that connection we have no wealth
A simple smile to cheer us up each day,
Would help to keep the depression at bay
A chat over a cup of tea,
Would have helped so many you see
Those weeks they lay in bed with no contact,
Messed with their health now that’s a fact
Tears rolling down their cheeks,
Asking why has no one has visited for weeks
I can’t believe this was never addressed,
So many people are now stressed
No one is looking at the bigger picture,
Of a society broken by stricture
Where was the love amongst this fear,
Where was the love we all hold so dear
Where was the support to give to others,
Where was the help for new mothers
We need to switch focus from fear to love,
We need to believe in the power from above
Today let’s change the way we think,
Before we all head to the brink
Let’s work together to create support,
And stop this crisis of being locked up in a fort
